Victorian kindergarten eligibility

The KinderMatch kinder age calculator helps families understand when a child can usually start funded kindergarten in Victoria. For 3-year-old kinder eligibility in Victoria, children must turn 3 on or before 30 April in the enrolment year. For 4-year-old kinder eligibility in Victoria, children must turn 4 on or before 30 April in the enrolment year.

Children born from 1 May usually become eligible for that funded year level the following year. Children with birthdays from January to April may have more than one practical start-year option depending on school readiness and whether funded kindergarten has already been accessed.
